The JPII girls soccer program was honored to receive the program’s first invitation to The Brittany Soccer Showcase this year. The Lady Saints are coming off back-to-back CPIC Conference Championships which helped the 2024 team earn its first invite to the prestigious event.
The Brittany Soccer Showcase is in its 18th year and was started to honor Brittany Willis who graduated from Wilson Hunt High School in 2004. Brittany tragically lost her life to an act of horrific, random violence in June of that year. The showcase was started the following spring to honor her memory as well as raise awareness of domestic violence and fund a memorial scholarship for student-athletes in Wilson County.
The Brittany is considered one of the top high school showcases in the country. This year more than 80 teams participated with 57 games played on March 8th & 9th.
The Saints faced Franklin Academy on Friday and Northern Nash High School on Saturday. Four players had to sit out due to injury or illness which led to falling 2-5 in the first match and 1-3 in the second contest. That being said, it was a great opportunity for the program and a rewarding event for the players, coaches, and families.
The Lady Saints also raised donations to contribute to the Brittany Memorial Scholarship Fund. The program is looking forward to returning to The Brittany in 2025.
