The girl’s soccer team improved to 3-1 in conference play on Friday with a first-ever win over Wayne Country Day.

Junior Mili Bernal got the Saints on the board first, scoring on a deflection from a corner kick from freshman Emma Anderson. Later in the first half, junior DeeDee Koesters took a free kick from 40-yards out that the Chargers returned to Koesters who took a couple touches and launched a shot on goal from 25 yards out that put the Saints up 2-0. With just under four minutes to go until halftime, the Chargers scored their only goal on a kick to the top left of the goal that keeper Kat Stanley had no chance at stopping.

The Saints third and final goal came off of another Anderson corner kick, this time with 24:46 remaining in the game. Anderson’s kick landed on the near side of the goal, bounced a few times, and found senior Kelly Hernandez who was waiting on the back side to tap it in.
