The John Paul II track and field program completed its first season at the NCISAA Division II state meet on Friday and Saturday at Forsyth Country Day. JPII had six qualifiers to the meet. The boys 4×400 relay supplied the highlight for the Saints as they set a school record. Peyton Davies advanced in the girls 800 and ran well despite battling a cough and severe congestion. Avery Respess was new to the hurdles this year and still managed to be a state qualifier as a sophomore. Coach Corley said he couldn’t be prouder of how the team kept improving throughout the season, and that he’s encouraged about the continued building of the program.
